A properly fitted mouthguard or mouth protector is an important piece of athletic gear that can protect your smile. Sports can become very physical; protective mouth gear should be used during an activity that could result in a blow to the face or mouth.

Mouthguards can help prevent broken teeth and injuries to the lips and tongue. A properly fitted mouthguard will stay in place while being worn and makes it easier to talk and breath.

There are three types of mouthguards: the ready-made or stock mouthguard, the mouth-formed boil and bite guard, and the custom-made mouthguard made at the dentist. Although all provide protection, the comfort and cost varies.
